World Wetland Day

February 2nd, was World Wetland Day! Wetlands are areas where water covers the soil, either permanently or seasonally, including marshes, estuaries, and ponds. These ecosystems are vital for filtering water, reducing pollution, storing carbon, and supporting biodiversity.

“Every drop of water—whether in wetlands, rivers, or reservoirs—is essential for life. Protecting wetlands is a critical step toward safeguarding all water resources for future generations,” said Board President Daniel Slawson.

The Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District proudly supports global efforts to protect wetlands, as their preservation benefits all of us.

Where does your water come from? 💧

Most of the water BCVWD delivers originates from the Beaumont Basin, where a network of wells pump water from the ground.

Once pumped, the water is stored in one of our above-ground reservoirs, where it is treated and immediately made available for use.

After passing through strict regulations and testing, the water flows through a complex network of pipes, delivering it to homes and businesses—finally reaching YOU when you turn on the faucet.

“Our dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure the water you receive is safe, clean, and reliable,” stated Board Director John Covington. “Understanding where your water comes from highlights the incredible effort behind every drop and the importance of preserving this essential resource.”
