It’s #TBT! Let’s go back to 2000 when the District’s reservoir system included only seven million gallons of storage. Since then, we’ve worked diligently to expand our water storage and delivery system. Today, the District has a 35-million-gallon storage capacity.

Our storage systems have grown alongside the flourishing community; they now support 59,000 people in both the City of Beaumont and the community of Cherry Valley.

When chore day hits, it’s easy to waste water without thinking. Here are a few simple water-saving tips for cleaning your house. 🧽🧹

1. Don’t let the water run while washing dishes by hand. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.

2. Soak your pots and pans instead of letting the water run while you scrape them clean.

3. Only run your washing machine and dishwasher when they’re full — you could save 1,000 gallons a month!

BCVWD was excited to receive recognition for its joint stormwater project with the Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District!

BCVWD and the Flood Control District accepted the Outstanding Flood Management Project accolade for the Beaumont MDP Line 16, Stage 50, at the American Society of Engineers (ACSE) San Bernardino and Riverside Gala Awards on August 17.
The project will provide both flood control and stormwater capture for groundwater recharge, expanding the region’s water supply.

Do you know how groundwater recharge works? We use this sustainable process at the Noble Creek Recharge Facility, replenishing the Beaumont Basin with imported water.

Recharge allows water to seep into the ground to replenish underground aquifers. This lets us store water under our feet for later use.

Storing water underground builds a resilient water supply for generations to come. It’s crucial to our future.

Let’s look back at the history of BCVWD. We’ve evolved to serve 59,000 people in both the City of Beaumont and the community of Cherry Valley. In 1920, however, BCVWD was known as the Beaumont Irrigation District and focused on exploring the Edgar Canyon and Noble Canyon areas. In those years, 35 wells were drilled on canyon lands to increase service reliability.

Over the decades, irrigation crops diminished while domestic water needs boomed. We are no longer that small, privately owned company but a full-fledged water system devoted to meeting our growing customers’ needs.

A surge of tropical and monsoonal moisture is projected to impact our region, resulting in widespread heavy rainfall, particularly from Sunday into Monday. While the City of Beaumont could receive anywhere between 3-5 inches of rain, it’s important to note that surrounding areas may receive significantly more, ranging from 7 to 10 inches of rain.

In light of these projections, we kindly request all residents to make adjustments to their outdoor irrigation during this period. By temporarily suspending outdoor irrigation, you can help mitigate the impact of excess water and assist in preventing any potential flooding situations. Your proactive efforts in conserving water during this time are deeply appreciated.
